07w2144 Intuitive GeometryArriving Friday, August 31 and departing Sunday, September 2, 2007Organizers: Ted Bisztriczky (University of Calgary), Gabor Fejes Tóth (Alfréd Rényi Institute of Mathematics), Ferenc Fodor (University of Szeged), Wlodzimierz Kuperberg (Auburn University). ObjectivesThe proposed 2-day Workshop will provide a much desired opportunity to share research findings in the interconnected areas represented in intuitive geometry. We are planning to bring together experienced researchers and graduate students to explore recent developments and freshly emerging directions, and to encourage future collaborations. We plan to invite researchers mostly from North-America and Europe. A special effort will be made to invite graduate students of various related disciplines, and to make the workshop accessible to them. We are planning to schedule about fifteen 20 minute talks during the Workshop, a problems session, and leave ample time for state of the field discussions and personal interactions. The meeting will be extended by the Intuitive Geometry Day in Calgary at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Calgary on September 3, 2007. The Intuitive Geometry Day in Calgary is sponsored by the Faculty of Science of the University of Calgary and the Pacific Institute for the Mathematical Sciences. |
