Convex Geometric Analysis (04w5014)
Organizers
Vitali Milman (Tel Aviv University)
Nicole Tomczak-Jaegermann (University of Alberta)
Elisabeth Werner (Case Western Reserve University)
Objectives
The proposed BIRS workshop will bring researchers in Convex Geometric Analysis to exchange new ideas, consider new directions essential for further developments and applications. We intend to bring together senior experts and to ensure the participation of a significant number of young researchers. We shall treat the subject in a very broad sense, and we plan to involve some leading people from related fields.
The workshop will be, in a sense, a follow-up to the PIMS Thematic Program Summer 2002 in Asymptotic Geometric Analysis, co-chaired by two of the presently proposed organizers (Milman and Tomczak-Jaegermann). The activity proposed here will correspond to the activity of the first three conferences of the Thematic Program, namely: "Convexity and asymptotic theory of normed spaces", "Measure Transportation and Geometric Inequalities" and "Phenomena of large dimensions". All responses which we have already received show that this was a "right" and fruitful combination of mathematics.
