Symbolic computer algebra in theoretical physics (07w2153)

This workshop has two main objectives: 1. To compare the potential of various approaches to symbolic computation. Further progress in determining quantum effects in subatomic physics will depend on the ability to solve very large systems of recurrence relations. This is a new problem in mathematics and various approaches are being tried. Among the new tools are Groebner bases and the so-called Baikov method involving complex representations.
2. To initiate a collaboration among various international groups.
