Recent Progress in Two-Dimensional Statistical Mechanics (08w5084)

Arriving Sunday, June 29 and departing Friday July 4, 2008

Organizers

Richard Kenyon (Brown University)

Objectives

We hope to bring together researchers working on different stat-mech models in two-dimensions, to get a "state-of-the-art" overview of the field and discuss new directions that the field can take. In particular
we hope to invite experts from both the discrete side (lattice models) and continuous side (SLE, Gaussian free field) to share their views on the universality phenomenon.

Two of the three recent fields medals were awarded for work in this area, so we feel that it is an exciting, timely, and important area. It's also important for workers to bring each other up to date on the latest results.
