Press Release:

Combinatorial and Convex Geometry Fest

The Banff International Research Station will host the "Combinatorial and Convex Geometry Fest" workshop from February 13th to February 15th, 2015.

Karoly Bezdek and Egon Schulte have made important and numerous contributions to the subject area of Discrete Geometry. In this Workshop we want to explore their influence and the ways in which the area has changed by the work of the two researchers. We want to pay particular attention to the future directions that Discrete Geometry is likely to make, because of their contributions and the contributions of the young people they have trained and influenced. The last three decades have witnessed the revival of interest in the subject and great progress on the fundamental problems in the field.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
