The interaction of finite type and Gromov-Witten invariants.November 15 - 20, 2003Organizers: Jim Bryan (UBC), David Auckly (Kansas State Univ.)ObjectivesThe goal of the workshop is to bring together people working on finite type invariants, people working on Gromov-Witten invariants (or more generally, invariants that are obtained by counting holomorphic maps), and physicists who can explain the recent progress in physics that has forged a strong link connecting these two areas. The mathematical communities working on finite-type invariants and Gromov-Witten invariants are largely disjoint. The hope is that this workshop will expand the interaction and exchange of ideas between these two areas of active mathematical research. There are a number of reasons to believe that there are deep connections between these theories. These reasons come from both math and physics. Workshop Schedule (PDF) Final Report (PDF) |
