The principal objective of the workshop is the dissemination of recent results and techniques in the subject areas of the meeting. Perhaps the most important of these centers around Voevodsky's work. His resolution of the Milnor conjecture has already given rise to further important developments by many people, most of whom will be attending the workshop.
The meeting will be run in the Oberwolfach tradition - speakers will be selected at the meeting itself, ample time will be left for discussions, and there will be an afternoon hike during the conference.
