Press Release:

Algebraic Design Theory with Hadamard Matrices: Applications, Current Trends and Future Directions

The Banff International Research Station will host the "Algebraic design theory with Hadamard matrices: applications, current trends and future directions" workshop from to .

This workshop will bring together internationally renowned mathematicians to discuss recent advances, challenges, and possible future strategies in algebraic design theory, with a special focus on Hadamard matrices and their generalizations. The subject of intense research interest due to their optimal nature and innate mathematical beauty, these matrices have applications in quantum information theory, coding theory, and other areas related to communications. We will develop effective methods of attack on a range of outstanding problems; this includes a famous unresolved conjecture first stated more than a century ago.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
