About CMI
Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) is the education and research centre in Chennai, India, as well as the first South Asian centre for BIRS. In partnership with BIRS, CMI hosts workshops with various topics in mathematics, computer science, and physics. The pilot program will start in 2024 by hosting three workshops, each lasting 5 days. The workshops will be hosted in January and December.

CMI has booked rooms for all participants in Hotel Regenta Central, RS, Chennai.

How long can I stay at the facility?
CMI will cover accommodation for 5 nights, from Sunday to Thursday.
- Participants should plan to arrive on Sunday(check in after 2pm) and depart in the evening on Friday(check out before 12pm).
- The hotel has 24-hour check-in. As usual, the hotel reception will be able to safely store your bags for the day, between your check-out and departure for the airport.
- The standard booking is for a double room, single occupancy.
May I bring a guest?
Anything beyond what is covered by CMI will be billed to the participants and can be paid directly to the hotel when checking out.
Meals
Where and how do I get my meals?
Breakfast and dinner are served at the Kafe 24(Hotel Regenta Central). On workshop days, lunch will be organized for participants at CMI.
Travel
Do I need a visa to attend CMI workshops?
We suggest you check with the India Embassy of your country of origin for any updated information.

What are my transportation options for getting to CMI?
Please reach out to CMI administrative staff at: [email protected] and they could suggest a few travel options from the airport to the hotel. Participants are responsible for their own travel arrangements and expenses.
