Geometric and Asymptotic Methods in Group Theory (05w5011)

Arriving Saturday, June 11 and departing Thursday June 16, 2005

Organizers

Akbar Rhemtulla (University of Alberta)
Mark Sapir (Vanderbilt University)

Objectives

Objective:

We propose to gather leading specialists in group theory (asymptotic invariants, algorithmic problems), geometric topology ($CAT(gamma)$ spaces, cubical complexes, etc.), statistical group theory (random walks, Poisson boundaries, etc), as well as graduate students in order to discuss recent trends and connections in these areas of mathematics.
