The Banff International Research Station will host the "Integrability in Holography (HALF)" workshop from June 8th to June 13th, 2014.

This workshop will explore the interplay between physics and mathematics in the context of holography. Under the holographic principle, problems in four dimensional gauge theory are mapped to two dimension. These are then solved exactly using techniques from integrable models. This new idea allows calculations that are impossible with standard approaches and hopefully would lead to a complete solution of a theory similar to Quantum chromodynamics. Archiving that very ambitious goal require the development of new mathematical tools in algebraic geometry, Yangians, quantum groups, combinatorics and Grassmanians. The workshop will bring together people working on these subjects and holography.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
