## Description

The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "Infinity-Categories, Infinity-Operads, and their Applications" workshop from May 6th to May 11th, 2018.

Homotopy-coherent structures are becoming increasingly important in many areas of mathematics. The formalism of $\infty$-categories and $\infty$-operads, which is the focus of this workshop, is a powerful framework for dealing with such structures that has seen a lot of development and many applications over the last few years. The workshop gathers mathematician working on both the foundations of this theory and on its applications in areas such as algebraic geometry, geometric representation theory, and algebraic topology, with the aim of spurring both further applications of the theory and new foundational developments inspired by potential applications.

The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). The research station in Oaxaca is funded by CONACYT.
